I couldn't afford a full system so got this instead looks the part very high quality and feels sturdy. got wired no problem but had to give the connection a bit of a wiggle to get it started. no problems since and very happy !

Does this alarm boxes which are backlit permanently need to be wired in by a qualified electrician or can a non-electrician such as make one light up with very little DIY skills?

I was told by people that these backlit alarm boxes only work if someone has an existing alarm panel which I don't have. Is this true with this alarm box?
